I had lunch at an Italian restaurant in Black Rock last Sunday with my in-laws. Black Rock is a seaside suburb about 20 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD.

While there, I noticed two colourful murals near the Woolies car park, created as part of a local council initiative aimed at preventing graffiti and brightening up the area. The project was led by Black Rock Neighbourhood Watch, Bayside Police and local traders, with support from a Council Community Grant and Marta Dunin-Labedzki of Shine Health, the owner of the wall. These mural were both designed and painted by local student Daiana Ingleton.

Our first mural was painted in 2017 by the then NHW Black Rock. The artist was Daiana Ingleton who was at that time a student at Sandringham College. There was a competition for the design of the mural, and it was won by Daiana.

This second mural is just opposite the first mural and is also by the same artist. However, I can’t find anything more about it.
