We started our day at Sun Plaza Sapa, a striking landmark right in the heart of town.
Jo’s Monday Walk

From there, we took the mountain train, slowly making our way upward.
As we ascended toward the Fansipan Mountains, the landscape transformed into a dreamy scene of mist-covered mountains. The fog drifted gently over the peaks, giving everything a soft, almost magical feel.

Fansipan looked even more breathtaking, with vibrant flowers and beautifully arranged gardens adding bursts of color against the cool mountain air.

When we visited, there was a cultural presentation of traditional dances by the local community. Each movement felt meaningful, but we didn’t have enough time to learn the stories behind them.
Sharing this here in case anyone recognises the dance or can tell us more about its meaning—would love to understand it better.

Our way up to the peak wasn’t easy—in fact, it was quite stressful. There were just too many people, and it felt like there were no clear rules or guidance on where to go. With no one directing the flow, everyone was squeezing in from all directions, making the whole experience overwhelming.
It definitely took a lot of patience.

Reaching the summit of Fansipan—the “Roof of Indochina” was an experience in itself. We didn’t expect it to be that cold, and windy so it was a good thing we picked up puffer jackets in Sa Pa just in time.

But as we made our way higher, the misty mountains slowly revealed themselves, and the atmosphere began to shift. Standing at the peak, surrounded by clouds and sweeping views, made every stressful moment worth it. There’s something unforgettable about finally reaching the top.

High up on Fansipan, even the structures feel like they’re touching the clouds. This pagoda tower stood quietly in the mist—strong, still, and almost mysterious against the mountain backdrop.

The giant Buddha adds a quiet sense of calm to the journey.

The seniors didn’t dare go up to the very summit so we asked our niece, Pam, to do it for us.

The Sunworld Fansipan Legend also features cute photo opportunities all around the area at the bottom.

Dinner was at a cute artsy restaurant in the heart of Sapa called Sapa Kitchen Art

How beautiful! So good that you made it to the top and got great photos of the mountain range, the temples, Buddha statue and flowers. Thank you for your public art share.
