Doors on the Way to the Airport

BACKSTORY: Our last day in Dauin was so stressful. It was time to catch our domestic flight from Dumaguete to Manila, and after days of perfectly reliable transport…from coasters and four-wheel drives to tricycles…we finally experienced our first hiccup.

Just before our scheduled pickup, we learned that our booked transfer from the Airbnb to the airport had been involved in an accident. A replacement vehicle was on its way, but no one could tell us when it would arrive. We could only wait… and watch the minutes tick by as our departure time crept closer. Stress levels were definitely rising.

Then, at last, our ride arrived. Knowing we were running late, the driver did everything he could to make up for lost time. The drive to the airport was one of the fastest and most nerve-racking I can remember. We held tightly onto our seats as we sped along, hoping we’d make it before check-in closed.

Phew! After all that pressure, we arrived just in time.

Despite the unexpected drama, I still managed to notice and photograph a few interesting doors along the main highway. It just goes to show that even on the most stressful travel days, there’s always something worth capturing.

I am linking this to Dan’s Thursday Doors Challenge.

Eergh. What a nerve-wracking story. But I admire your aplomb in carrying on clicking, even if you weren’t calm!

Haha well there was nothing else we can do, right? So click away.
