When I woke up, this was the view from our room window. It was a beautiful sight to start the day in Dauin… a town near Negros Oriental, Philippines.

Before the place fully woke up, Jack and I enjoyed breakfast by the beach. At that early hour, it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. It was just the two of us, the gentle sound of the waves, the soft sand beneath our feet, and a few chickens wandering around nearby. The peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect way to start the day.

After breakfast, we went for a walk along the shore. The scenery was so peaceful and relaxing that we completely lost track of time. Before we knew it, we had been walking for ages, enjoying the fresh sea breeze and taking in the beautiful surroundings.

We stopped by Tim and Leigh’s room to meet up before continuing with our plans for the day.

We hadn’t walked very far when the scorching sun and intense heat started to take their toll on Jack. The tropical weather was relentless, and a cold bottle of soft drink quickly became the perfect remedy.

We continued walking and saw these doors along the way.

Walked past the town and saw the “I❤️DAUIN” signage which I am linking to Natalie’s Photographing Public Art Challenge

… and a colourful butterfly mural that I simply couldn’t resist taking a selfie with. Beside it was a sign that, when translated, read: “Loved, Hurt, Went to Dauin.” The words were intriguing and made me wonder about the story behind them.

I also passed the San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish Church, also known as the Stone Church of Dauin. Built in 1857 by Augustinian priests, it is one of the town’s most important historical landmarks. I enjoyed admiring its old stone walls

Sitting near the cathedral were some local children who were very friendly. I spent a few minutes chatting and laughing with them, and their warm smiles made my visit even more enjoyable. It was one of those simple travel moments that I will always remember.

I continued my walk and came across a nipa hut and an old stone structure. It looked interesting and full of history, but I couldn’t find any information about what it was.

After hiring our snorkeling gear, we headed into the water. As a beginner, it took me some time to get used to breathing through the snorkel. At first, I felt a little awkward and nervous, but once I got the hang of it, I was able to relax and fully enjoy the experience.

The Marine Sanctuary was marked by floating buoys, so it was easy to know exactly where the protected area was. As soon as I looked beneath the surface, I saw variety of marine creatures swimming among the colourful corals. But sadly I don’t have any camera to document it.

After walking and snorkeling we decided that it was time for lunch. We walked back and saw these lush plants just on the roadside.

Lunch was at Jardin Restaurant… beautiful and peaceful ambience.

After lunch we continued our way back to our AirBnB.

You do manage to get yourself on some incredible trips (I had to look up where it was though). I love the wood and chicken wire gate, very special.
Thanks a lot Scooj and for pointing it out that I forgot to put what place it is. I have corrected it though. Thanks again.
This looks like a beautiful adventure. I have to say, I haven’t had breakfast yet, and your photos are making me reconsider my toast and yogurt. I love how you covered the various challenges. All very well done.
Haha that is what breakfast looks like in the Philippines. Thanks Dan, it is fun to have all these challenges in one go.
Another wonderful gallery of your travels.
Thanks so much Pepper.
