It’s so hard to choose a “best ever” photo. Every shot I take comes with a feeling … a little moment, a memory, something I felt right then and there. So choosing just one favourite is almost impossible… it’s like choosing a favourite among my kids.
But here are some photos I really enjoyed clicking away at over the years … little snapshots of wonderful memories, beautiful places, and moments that have long since gone by. Each one holds a story and a feeling that I’m happy to revisit. This is for Steve’s Lens Artist Photo Challenge.
I took this shot in Sorrento, a historic coastal town on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, simply because I loved the texture of the clouds. They were so dramatic that I couldn’t resist taking out my iPhone. And then, almost by chance, the light shifted. The sun moved behind the tree, creating this beautiful backlit silhouette and giving the whole scene a much more dramatic feel.
We spent an hour on a panoramic cruise across Lake Lucerne, and it was such a beautiful way to experience Switzerland. From the water, we had an amazing view of the Swiss Alps, with forested hillsides, green meadows and dramatic mountain peaks all around us. There was something so peaceful about simply sitting back on the vessel, watching the scenery slowly unfold.
Maybe I’ve taken better flower photos, but this one always makes me smile. The vibrant pink flowers are simply impossible to resist. Sometimes it’s not the “best” photo … it’s the one that makes me feel something.
I took this photo in the Dandenong Ranges and fell in love with the way the autumn leaves seemed to glow when the sunlight touched them. I loved the scene so much that I even painted it in oil.
Some photographs become more than just memories, they become inspiration.
This last one is one of my favourites. I loved how the sunlight came through the dark clouds, creating these beautiful golden rays. It was one of those moments that lasts just a split second … and then it’s gone.
These may not be perfect shots…but at the moment, while I was standing there I couldn’t help but feel in awe of the world around me.

Teresa, I really enjoyed your images and the stories behind them. I’ve come to realise, over the past year that, for me, it’s all about taking pictures for yourself. The tree picture is really cool and your painting blew me away. I’m always in awe of people who can produce art like that. I wish I could 🙂
