Lilliput Libraries are small, friendly book-sharing boxes found all over New Zealand. They work on a simple idea: take a book, leave a book. These little libraries help bring communities together and make it easy for people to enjoy reading and share stories with others.
Here are two that I saw in Te Anau while walking around the town centre. I am linking this to Dan’s Thursday Doors Challenge and for Natalie’s Photographing Public Art Challenge

Such a great idea!
Whoever started it should be appreciated!
👍
These are such great a great idea. In Calgary they are called “Little Free Libraries” with their own FB group – which I’ve just discovered!
Yes great idea indeed whatever it is called…
The free library is a wonderful idea. I love the friendly paintings. Thank you for your public art share.
My pleasure Natalie. It is always fun to see people’s creativity.
We have them in Germany, too. Often in old public telephone booths. They have one drawback – there are more people wanting to give up books than to take books; and the books are often books nobody wants (out of date, encyclopedias which nobody uses anmore, etc.) As a result these little libraries are overflowing and in very bad disarray. So, volunteers take over to help to keep them clean.
Oh no, that will be a mess. But it is good that there are volunteers to help out.
We have them here in Aussie too, and some shopping centres have book nooks were you can sit and read or take away books. Great idea.
Yes same. In Melbourne there are some as well. It is such a great idea.
Great photos, Teresa. I love these little libraries and these two are very pretty.
Thanks Dan, glad you liked it.
I love these! We have them in Sydney too.
I think lots of countries went on board with this. It is just fun seeing them all over the world.
Oh absolutely. I always smile when I see them 🙂
Such a lovely idea, and I like the fact they paint them so brightly 🙂
We have them here in Melbourne. But it’s always fun seeing them in another country. Thanks Sarah.
I love these little libraries. During our travels around Europe, I have seen so many. Lovely photos!
Thanks Brenda, they are so cute for a great cause.
