Melbourne’s Short, Sharp Lockdown

“We’re all just passing time and occupy our chair very briefly.” – John Hurt

From midnight tonight up to midnight Wednesday Victoria is back to Stage 4 Restrictions Lockdown. As tough and as challenging as it is, Victoria Premier Dan Andrews announced that we are doing this to prevent a third wave. This is the B117 UK variant that is moving fast and is more transmissible and the only way to contain it is to have a short, sharp lockdown.

Was looking forward to Sunday lunch with Pat, but that unfortunately is not pushing through. So I guess no one is celebrating Valentine’s Day in Victoria.

I am just wondering when all this will end? No one can say really.

I know! Tennis with no crowd 🙁 Trying to decide what to cook on Valentine’s.

    1. Teresa says:

Yes I pity the players…they were waiting for a long time to have a crowd during the play and then suddenly this happens. Well good luck for Valentine’s

      1. restlessjo says:

Kyrgios is making the very most of the crowd today 🤣🤣

  2. Alison says:

Seems to be the trend at the moment ..WA had a snap five day lockdown

    1. Teresa says:

I think Victoria copied it from you.

      1. Alison says:

        😂

  3. Toonsarah says:

Such a shame when you were doing so well over there! How effective can just five days of lockdown be, I wonder? Anyway, I hope it does do the trick!

    1. Teresa says:

Well they did it in Western Australia and in Queensland, so hopefully it will do miracles here too. 🤞 Thanks for the thought Sarah.

  4. I wish we in America would do a lockdown and get it over with. 5 days is nothing. I can celebrate later. I hope this new strain doesn’t get out of hand.

    1. Teresa says:

We had longer lockdown before as in more than 100 days and it put the cases to 0. But this is the new strain so hopefully it gets contained. America has millions of people more than Australia so it is really hard there. Be safe Kathleen

We’ve been in lockdown since December 26, just starting to open again, although the virus still lingers. At least we know we are not alone.

    1. Teresa says:

Yes V.J. all of us are in the same boat. We have new cases, we have lockdown, cases go to 0 then new strain comes out and there’s lockdown again. I just don’t know when this will end. Have a good day my friend.

      1. V.J. Knutson says:

        Hopefully with vaccination….eventually.

  6. I guess five days of lockdown is not much to give up to prevent the spread of this horrible virus

    1. Teresa says:

We are just hoping it is only 5 days. That depends of course if there are more cases arising. Have a good day Alice!

  7. Amy says:

when all this will end…? Really hope the vaccines will stop it.
    Beautiful images, Teresa.

    1. Teresa says:

Thanks Amy. I really do hope the vaccine is the answer.

  8. Australia seems to be doing it right! Hang in there!

    1. Teresa says:

I also think Australia is in a much better place than most. But sometimes when we get 0 cases for a long time, we get our hopes up and then this happens again and it gets frustrating. Anyway, thanks for your words of encouragement, Shikha.

  9. Dan Antion says:

I hope it is short and effective.

    1. Teresa says:

I sure hope so, but I don’t want to get my hopes too high. But I sure hope so…you will hear from me if it doesn’t haha

  10. We heard the news. Keep safe and well.

    1. Teresa says:

Thanks so much for your nice words. Stay safe too
