Exploring Textures

on

This week, Anne invites us to share photos that capture the beauty of texture. It made me realise how often I’m drawn not to the bigger picture, but to the small, intricate details that might otherwise go unnoticed.

The soft, shiny smoothness of rounded spheres, whether metal or plastic… contrasts beautifully with the gentle unevenness of pebbles, their surfaces worn silky by time.

The gritty, coarse texture of rusted metal, the fibrous edges of mosaic art, and the layered wood set against a ridged steel container.

Then there are the tree trunks, raw and rugged in texture yet once cut, they reveal a smoother, quieter surface within.

There’s also the softness of duck feathers, layered, silky, and almost weightless, each one gently overlapping the next.

And finally, nature in its most intricate form. It is the petals that’s soft and velvety with quiet elegance. The leaves, veined and slightly textured in contrast to the spikes of the cactus.

Lastly, I often hear it, or catch myself saying it … that I’m loving the texture of a place. It’s that layered feeling: worn cobblestones underfoot, weathered walls, soft reflections, and quiet movement all coming together. It’s not just what I see, but what I feel and that’s what makes a place linger in my mind and heart.
