Our first day in Florence was very hectic and very tiring and a bit wet, luckily our second day was a bit better weather wise. So here is another day wandering in this beautiful city.

Ponte Vecchio means in Italian “old bridge”. The Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) is a world famous bridge crossing the river Arno in Florence, Italy. Walking on this busy walk way and seeing the shops built into the bridge was quite an experience.

This is a very Instagram perfect bridge as you can see below…. just try and avoid the crowd!

Visiting Florence won’t be complete without viewing this beautiful bridge, the Ponte Vecchio. During our few days stay in Florence, we happened to pass by this bridge several times and during these times, I especially noticed the amazing cloud formation above it. That made me love the view even more.

Oh … so much love locks on this part of the Ponte Vecchio, usually to the fence around the statue of Cellini located in the center of the bridge which symbolised the couple’s eternal love for each other. Yes, very cheesy but what else can you expect, we were in such a romantic city!

Just a few minutes walk and we arrived at the very busy Piazza della Signoria.

The Piazza has been a centre for rallies, festivals, exhibits and events.  Here, in walking distance to each other were several iconic tourist attractions of Florence, like the Palazzo Vecchio, the Neptune Fountain and the Uffizi Gallery.

Pallazo Vecchio (Old Palace) is the townhall of Florence.

Here were some of the wonderful statues that we saw in the Signora Square. We could have stood there for ages just admiring them.

Hercules and Cacus is a white marble statue by Bandinelli.

Perseus with the Head of Medusa is the famous statue by Cellini.

The statue of The Rape of a Sabine Women which shows the incident in Roman mythology in which the men of Rome committed a mass abduction of young women from the other cities of Italy.

Fountain of Neptune is a marble carved sculpture of the Roman god Neptune, by Bartolomeo Ammannati.

Around the corner from Piazza della Signoria is the world famous Uffizi Gallery. Here we saw an array of outdoor statues, monuments and fountains and an impressive collection of Renaissance art.

There were a lot of people having their caricature done on the steps by the Uffizi Gallery. Some people, like us, can’t help ourselves and bought a beautiful Italian hand painted artworks. But don’t worry I haggled so much to put the price down haha

We also saw a lot of gorgeous shops and doors along the way.

Our feet were so tired by this time that we decided to go back to our hotel, and we crossed this bridge to get to the bus stop on the other side of the Arno.

And now we say, “Goodbye, till we meet again.” to this wonderful city of Firenze.
