Angono… a fun place to be

This week, Egidio’s challenge is Destination: Fun.

I struggled to decide what to post this week because, for me, traveling—whether close to home or halfway around the world—is always an adventure filled with fun.

But I suddenly remembered these places that my niece and nephew took us in Angono, Rizal in the Philippines. This is my “fun place”… I could stay here for hours just looking at all the things on display.

First stop was Balaw Balaw Specialty Restaurant where we had lunch.

The place is rustic and cozy filled with antique charm. Art decorates every corner—colorful paper mache masks, large sculptures of religious figures, and diverse paintings create a vibrant atmosphere that showcases the undeniable talent of Filipino artists from Angono.

Just around the corner is another FUN art gallery turned restaurant owned by Nemiranda.

We were greeted with a giant (higante) figure at the gate. These higantes are part of the festival in November.

It is amazing how Nemiranda has infused his art throughout the space, with sculptures, paintings, masks on walls and posts. It now also features the Atelier Café.

I am also linking this to Becky’s Seven in September featuring 7 masks.

And I am linking this to Xingfumama’s Pull Up a Seat Challenge, with chairs that I found in Balaw Balaw.
