“I love walking down the street and seeing faces and drama and happiness and sadness and dirt and cleanliness.” – Ric Ocasek
Chapel Street, Melbourne is known for its retail outlets, restaurants and cafes. It also is well known for its different types of artistic endeavours like public murals and sculptures. But for this week I went UP and down the street and saw some beautifully painted DOORS of Traffic signal boxes and other kinds of SQUARE DOOR covering.

Thursday Doors – Street Box Doors
oh isn’t this lovely – such fun
Thanks Becky.I had a good day yesterday. It’s my ME time.
Excellent 🙂
What a wonderful way to turn drab utility fixtures into fun bits of street art. Great theme, and s nice collection of doors, Teresa.
Very artistic indeed. Haven’t visited this place for over a year and so much has changed.
interesting finds, T! 🙂 🙂
Thanks Wi..enjoyed my walk!
Thats a good idea to brighten up a dull utility box
I thought so too. I just wonder who did the artwork…there are no names on it.
Great finds!
Thanks Margaret.
Very colourful! We have some of these boxes near us and I’ve often thought it would be nice if someone were to paint them as I have seen done elsewhere
Maybe you can paint one yourself haha
You’ve clearly never seen my attempts at art 😆 I’ll stick to photography for my artistic creativity, I think!
Haha ok then!
Teresa, those are so cool. I love all the whimsy! Hugs on the wing.
Hugs to you too Teagan and thanks for stopping by.
Those skware boxes are great! 🙂 🙂
Brings joy to an otherwise drab place.
Such interesting art out there! Lovely find…
Thanks Rita. I was surprised too.
I’ve seen and photographed this sort of door here in the US. Aren’t they fun?!
janet
So much fun definitely! Thanks Janet!
Trust Chapel Street to have such creative utility boxes. They’re amazing. It’s been years since I’ve been to Melbourne and I’ve only been to Chapel Street once as a uni student back in 1991. That was awhile ago now and in so many, many ways!
I from Sydney, by the way.
This week, I’ve photographed the door to the dance studio my daughter’s attended since she was three turning four, around 11 years ago. We’ve just fired up for another year: https://beyondtheflow.wordpress.com/2021/01/29/thursday-doors-back-to-dance-2021/
Best wishes,
Rowena
Congratulations to some proud moments as a mother. And such memorable doors as you enter and as your daughter enters into her own world as a dancer. Thanks for the comment Rowena. And good luck to future dancing years.
Thanks very much, Teresa.
My pleasure!
Such a creative idea! Love these. 🙂
I know, something that livens up the place.
These are mighty cheerful. Great!
It seems you have the time to catch up on your reading of the blogs, Manja! Thanks for that my dear!
