Tuesday Streetart: Dimmey’s Richmond – 101

Dimmey’s clock tower in Richmond has been a local icon since 1910, standing tall through Melbourne’s changing times.

In 2003, for Dimmey’s 150th anniversary, a massive mural by Hayden Dewar was added along Green Street. Stretching over 60 metres, it tells the story of Australia’s past—from gold rush days to pop culture moments. Thankfully, when the building was redeveloped, the mural was preserved, keeping a colourful slice of history alive. I am so happy that this mural still exists and has not been painted over up to now.

I love the clock tower, it looks very elegant, and the mural is fantastic – I do hope it never gets painted over.

I do hope so too. But I guess the people know its value since it has been there for a long time.
