Travelling to Rome when it was nearly night time gave it a feeling of mystery. On the way there with a view through the coach windows, we had a glimpse of the City…seeing the St Peter’s Basilica and the Castel Sant’Angelo and the streets and bridges.

So that we can have a guide, we always took photos of what we were supposed to do on that day. Just to know what time we were expected to eat or wake up. And for that first day in Rome, it said “Treasures of Rome at Night with Dinner”. With this optional tour, many did not come as they were already tired and we had more days in Rome anyway.

At first we had dinner, and of course we were in Italy, so as expected the food was so tasty. Then our coach took us down in this alleyway. We walked a bit and to our surprise…there it was, the Trevi Fountain in all its glory and all the tourists were there too. OMG we can’t even take a photo without people going in front of our faces.

The Trevi Fountain is a fountain in the Trevi district in Rome, Italy, designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi and completed by Giuseppe Pannini and several others. Standing 26.3 metres high and 49.15 metres wide, it is the largest Baroque fountain in the city and one of the most famous fountains in the world. – Google

Legend says that when you toss a coin into Trevi, it will bring you back to Rome …we want to see how that will pan out pandemic and all.

Then a bit of walking from the Trevi took us to the Spanish Steps. To our dismay, during that time that we went in 2016, the steps were being renovated. All the cranes, ladders and tools were just everywhere and we can’t even go up the steps of the Spanish Steps or even take a decent photo of it.

Just wondering if the coin that we tossed in the Trevi will take us back there so that we can see the finished Spanish Steps? wink* wink*
