This week, Johnbo invites us to “Pick a Word” and select three or four appropriate photos to share about it. The word I am choosing is – RIVER.
In my travels I love sitting by a river where I feel at peace, watching the water shimmer and listening to its soft, steady flow. Here are a few of my favourite- places and rivers.
This is the Duoro River which flows through the heart of Porto, Portugal. Whether crossing the Dom Luís I Bridge, taking a river cruise, or simply watching the sunset over the water, the Douro brings a special charm to Porto’s atmosphere.

The Seine River flows through the iconic landmarks, bridges, bookstalls, and riverboats which add to its allure, making it one of the most beloved rivers in the world.

The Vltava River is the soul of Prague, winding through the city and reflecting its historic beauty. The Vltava flows under Charles Bridge, where swans glide gracefully, adding to Prague’s fairytale charm.

We went to Girona just for a day trip, but its charm and history made a lasting impression. This is the Onyar River that flows through Girona. The banks are lined with colourful houses that reflect beautifully in the water. Bridges cross its calm surface, offering stunning views of the city’s charm and history.

All wonderful Teresa. I loved the reflections in the final image.
Thanks Tina. Love that one too.
Lovely photos, I love a river too and always see if I can get accommodation overlooking a river.
It is such a calming sight. Thanks for the visit. Ali.
Lovely collection of river photos Teresa. Any excuse to be by a river and I’m there
True Brian so many more photos of the river, but had to choose only 4.
Who cares about restrictions Teresa. Maybe I am more of a rebel 😂
You’ve captured the charm of these cities and the river’s that flow through them!
Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, Sarah.
I am echoing Sarah’s comment. Rivers are the lifeblood of the cities that are fortunate enough to have one flow through the town. Great word choice, Teresa.
I’m not sure why your post didn’t load in my browser right away, but after a few minutes, I tried again, and it loaded quickly.
Thanks John. Walking past a river gives one a feeling of calmness.
Glad that you were able to view the photos eventually
Beautiful collection of river images. The Sein photo reminds me of the river in my hometown…
Thanks Marina.
Rivers showcase their cities, for sure, and river walks are always special.
It is really the heart and soul of a city so it is so special to experience. Thanks.
Rivers are always fantastic and it is a great word to choose. Your rivers are all different and beautiful.
Thanks so much for stopping by Leanne. Much appreciate the comment.
Great word choice, great great photos. Outstanding.

I loved Girona too, and the Douro, of course xx
Thanks Jo. So much to love about travelling to places that you’ve never been before.
