“The waves of the sea help me get back to me.” – unknown
Phillip Island is a popular day trip destination from Melbourne. And for me, it is just about an hour away from where I live so when I just feel like something different to do on weekends, I take my sneakers and sun hat and drive here with hubby.
This is my entry for Cee and Marsha’s Photographing Public Art Challenge, for Xingfumama’s Pull Up a Seat Challenge and for smkelly’s Sculpture Saturday Challenge.
First thing to do is watch the feeding of the pelicans in the town of San Remo. I have seen this a thousand times but I still enjoy going to the shore to see them being fed. No photos of that today because I have shared that previously and you can see it here.
Here is a Pelican sculpture made of recycled material in the San Remo shoreline.
In the marina, you can see this tribute to the local fishermen.
Having a cup of coffee before continuing on to the main island
About 17 minutes drive from San Remo is the main town in Phillip island, which has an outstanding coastal scenery.
Phillip Island is known for the Penguin Parade, where spectators gather daily at sunset to watch the Little penguins come ashore. Here are some public art near the shore line.
It would have been great to have lunch on these white chairs of a cafe if it wasn’t pouring rain.
Saw some more public art before we made our way back home.
another neat place, Melbourne, T! thank you for taking us around!
One of my favourite place. If you ever are around, I will take you there. Have a good day Wilma.
