On the way to our High School Reunion

On the way to my Golden High School Reunion Welcome Lunch for “Balikbayans” (term used for those living overseas and coming back to our native land) , we passed by doors from around the Makati area.

Then we reached the grand gates of the gated community along Mackinley Road in Forbes Park where the Welcome Lunch for the balikbayans was being held.

I hadn’t seen these ladies since high school 50 years ago, so to be honest, I was equal parts excited and slightly terrified. What if they all still looked fresh and glowing… and I didn’t? Life can be unfair like that sometimes. Haha

And poor Jack, I took him with me but I wasn’t sure if he was fully prepared for a room full of senior girls who, once reunited, instantly revert to giggling teenagers with zero indoor voices.

But honestly, I had such a lovely time catching up with old friends — swapping stories, laughing at the same old jokes, and picking up right where we left off.

And Jack? He found himself happily deep in conversation with a friend’s husband, so it ended up being a win-win for everyone.

I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Looks like fun! I just realized that this year is my 50th year reunion too. Where did the time go? 😉

I know right. And when we were all chatting it seemed like it was just yesterday. Thanks Pepper.

I really did. But that was just the first part. Tomorrow will be the real and main Homecoming.

Thank heavens Jack found a friend! I remember a long ago reunion when I seemed to spend a lot of time being asked ‘do you remember…so and so?’ And I often didn’t. Perhaps I was at a different school! xx

To my surprise I seemed to remember a lot of them, first and even surnames. I was thinking maybe it is the long term memory that I remember more.

You had a lucky experience. The one reunion I went to from my old school, we discovered we no longer had much in common and it all remained rather formal.

Awww that is sad. They are just one phase of your past life. But anyway it is the friends that you choose in the present that makes life more special. Have a good day.

The reunion sounds fun. 50 years seems like a long time. I remember dreading going back for my school reunion. We had it 25 years after school and i was certain that nobody would remember me but like you said, once we met, we were giggling like teens.

The colors of the buildings are so cheerful. Love the happy smiles.
