Balconies

PR of Flights of the Soul is hosting the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge this week, focusing on Balconies.

Balconies are architectural elements that extend from the exterior of a building, providing outdoor space and often offering picturesque views.

One of literature’s most iconic balconies belongs to Juliet in Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” While the balcony itself in Verona might appear tranquil and serene, the scene below is often filled with tension and chaos.

Gaudi’s architecture is also known for its intricate balconies.

Balconies can vary greatly in style, many with ornate wrought-iron designs.

Some with just simple linear iron work.

Flowers and plants on balconies can transform a boring outdoor space into a vibrant, inviting haven.

And some have a more modern style.

Stone balconies can add a touch of sophistication and elegance

It is also very handy to put the washing out to dry.

And others may like to use it for something different and peculiar.

Fabulous selection! Spain and Portugal are particularly rewarding for the balcony-spotter, aren’t they?

Oh yes that’s for sure. I think Italy is too, but I just don’t want to overload photos.

Gorgeous balconies, Teresa 😀. I was really hoping that someone would share the balcony from Verona for I somehow missed to click a picture of that when I was there!

Yes, when I read the prompt, that Juliet’s balcony was the first thing that came to mind. But somehow, I could not take a great photo because there were so many tourists.

      1. PR says:

I guess I also couldn’t take the picture because of the crowds 🙂.
