This week, Beth’s challenge is all about subjects starting with the letter B. It wasn’t as easy as I thought—my mind wandered in so many different directions. But once I chose one theme, I realized I had photographed far more of it than I expected. So, here’s my B for Boats.
“Land was created to provide a place for boats to visit.” — Brooks Atkinson
Boats may serve the same purpose around the world, but each country gives them its own unique character. Some are brightly painted, others are simple and weathered by years at sea. Some are built for fishing, while others ferry people between islands or quietly wait along peaceful lakeshores.

Every boat tells a story—of the people who built it, the waters it has sailed, and the culture it represents. It’s fascinating how something so ordinary can become a beautiful reminder that every destination has its own identity.

Your travels have provided you with Bountiful Bs!
Boats are always a good subject for photos and you have some great shots here. i recogniize no. 1 in the first gallery as being the end of the Caledonian Canal as it runs into Loch Ness at Fort Augustus, I was there myself a few years ago, and Burano with its coloured houses is so lovely.
Cool collection of boats, Teresa!
Fantastic variety of boats, 👍🏽
Wonderful pictures of boats. Thanks.
Teresa, Boats are one of my favorite “B” subjects! Thanks for this beautiful collection of boats from around the world. Your post is a perfect response to the challenge.
Oh, that’s really clever – to show the different identities of places through a single subject, and boats are a great choice for the exercise 😀
