Laguna

My brother in law, Honorio, took us to this wide expanse of land that was a golf course. There we had a bit of a stroll and had lunch, where we ordered these amazing cold drinks which was just right for the Philippine weather.

Next, we parked our car near the highway and then we walked on this trail which was so beautiful with tall palm trees all around. The road leading to the lake however, was not a comfortable one.

The uphill trek was tiring & maybe even dangerous. But that was a few years ago and I remembered not minding it much at that time. But I remembered Huffing & puffing but we got there in one piece. Along the way we saw monkeys in cages, horse barns, lush greeneries, huts and store stalls

When we got to the big sign welcoming us to Lake Pandin and upon seeing glimpses of the lake…we knew that we were in for an amazing time. So we made our way to the final slope…

There are 7 lakes in San Pablo in the province of Laguna and Lakes Pandin is one of them. The local ‘community’ welcomes tourists to the area with bamboo rafts

My sister and nice and nephew were offered fresh coconut juice but we didn’t opt for the complete meal and raft package, as we just had our lunch.

The following are serene shots of the Pandin Lake. It was about an hour when we quietly sat on the raft and enjoyed this scenery. How good was that?

Then after about an hour in the balsa (raft), these men helped us to get off and we went back uphill again.

Next stop was Sulyap, a restaurant that is rated as one of the best in San Pablo City, serving an extensive menu of modern Filipino cuisine. At night time, the serinity of the place was just tremendous. i just hope that more Filipinos can learn to appreciate our rich culture.

Sulyap opens its doors to windows of Filipino history. It also has a museum inside which features relics from the past like paintings, saint sculptures and other artifacts.”

I wasn’t into blogging much at that time so I didn’t even think of taking photos of the museum and the food. Well, maybe the next time around.

It must have been so restful to float on the raft on that lake 🙂 I hope your Philippine-based friends and family weren’t affected by that awful typhoon?

      Yes it was so relaxing.
And thanks for asking. My one sister wasn’t in the path of the storm but my other sister is. But up to now she hasn’t replied so hopefully she is ok. 🙏🏻

Haha it always seems to be paradise, especially if you’re from the other side of the globe. But for me it is one of the best places to be. Thanks for commenting.
