Toledo is one of the oldest and most unique cities in Spain and is the former Spanish capital before Madrid. It stands beautifully high up on a hill above the Tagus River and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
From the Mirador del Valle, you can see this fantastic panoramic view of Toledo.

The Puente de San Martin is a medieval bridge across the river Tagus. This bridge has five arches, with the one in the middle being the largest, having a span of 40 metres.
This is the Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes or the San Juan Monastery. This Franciscan monastery has Gothic and Moorish architecture influence.

This is the Posada De La Hermandad which was once a prison but is now a museum.
The many windows of traditional Toledo houses and apartments.
Some of the streets are named “Callejon del Infierno” (street of Hell), “Callejon del Diablo” (the Devil’s Alley), showing how the city has a strong belief in superstition and witchcraft.
Toledo’s character also comes from its narrow cobblestone streets.
And guess where we enjoyed most of our day … of course at the market in the town centre.
How very interesting to learn a bit about Toledo. It looks like a stunning old city. I was really surprised at how close the streets were, though. The murals were beautiful and livened up that wall.
It is a gorgeous city and especially the Cathedral which I will post in a few days.

I’v yet to visit Toledo. You’ve done a good job in tweaking it higher up my ‘must visit’ list.
It is a must visit for me. Especially the Toledo cathedral which I have yet to share later on.
This looks a beautiful town to visit. I’m afraid we’ve rather neglected Spain in favour of other European countries but we really should go to places like this!
And may have even overlooked it in favour of Madrid or Barcelona.
