The Charm of Barcelona Doors

Barcelona is renowned for its vibrant street art scene, and its doors often serve as canvases for creative expression. I’m not into graffiti, but here are some examples that I saw on its doors.

Artists transform plain or aged doors into colourful and intricate works of art. This form of street art adds a unique charm to the city and offers a glimpse into the city’s artistic pulse.

I am linking this to Dan’s Thursday Doors Challenge. Also linking it to Natalie’s Photographing Public Art Challenge – PPAC.

Obviously my kind of doors post. I was amazed by the shutters in Barcelona and the number of them with street art on them. I think that the VW Beetle has been there for a long time.

    1. Teresa says:

You and me both…love the shutters too and I have featured it long time ago here. These are some of my leftovers.

I’m all in favour of street art, and using garage doors – or any doors really – as a canvas. But I don’t get any joy from those handsome old doors being graffiti-ed.

    1. Teresa says:

Yes, Margaret, I just featured it here but I really hate graffiti too.

Some tired old doors definitely benefit, Teresa. I love your second gallery, and especially the little lass you caught.

    1. Teresa says:

Thanks, that second gallery is really a work of art. and that little girl is so cute as she was singing while she was walking.

This is a great collection, Teresa. I love the second group, starting with the featured door. Wonderful vibrant colors.

    1. Teresa says:

Thanks so much Dan. I think we are all agreeing that we like the second set of proper design and not the graffiti.

I don’t like to see that random tagging but I do like proper street art, as you know, and those shutters make a perfect canvas 🙂

    1. Teresa says:

Same here, I know what you mean! Thanks for sharing your views.

I like the graffiti on those doors. It brightens up the street.

    1. Teresa says:

Very much so. Thanks Frank for the comment

  12. Great to see how they are carrying on the eclectic artistic and architectural tradition Barcelona is known for. The 9th image down with the two wavy skyscrapers reminds me of the smokestacks on the roof of Gaudi’s La Pedrera (Casa Mila).

    1. Teresa says:

True, Barcelona is a very artistic city.

  13. I love the street art, Teresa, especially your featured photo. There’s alot street art in Spain!

    1. Teresa says:

I know, that is why I love Barcelona so much. Thanks Brenda

I hope this catches on around the world! Why have a boring & plain garage door?!

    1. Teresa says:

      I hope so too
