I’m new to this, so please excuse the image quality.
I used a free app and inputted words like ‘Porto,’ ‘bridge,’ ‘sunset,’ and ‘bird’s-eye view’ to generate the first image. The second photo is one I took myself. Still learning, but here’s my attempt!
Following, I used the word prompt ‘silhouette,’ ‘Eiffel Tower,’ ‘trees in the foreground,’ and ‘sunset,’ and the first is the AI-generated image.
Here I used the words ‘single flower’, ‘dramatic’, ‘droplets’.
Here, I wrote ‘purple Hydrangea’, ‘dramatic’, ‘raindrops on petals’, ‘with a bit of leaves’.
Attempting to use AI is something I decided to try as a challenge from Johnbo. It is now becoming a trends but despite its popularity, it doesn’t quite feel like my thing. As I experimented with generating images, I couldn’t shake the feeling that they lacked the personal touch I want. While AI certainly has its appeal, I found myself drawn back to the raw emotion in the photos I took myself. There’s something special about those moments frozen in time, each one telling a story that’s uniquely mine.
You expressed my feelings perfectly Teresa. Your images have no difficulty whatever in winning, as against the AI ones.

I so agree with you, Teresa. I’ve not ventured into the AI imaging arena myself and don’t have the desire at this time. I still enjoy the search for the next, great photo. That creativity still speaks to me.

It was fun creating. Maybe if I have the real app it would make a big difference. I was just using a free app and I was only using my phone so it was kinda challenging. Thanks for the challenge for this week Johnbo.
I agree with you totally about the ‘moments frozen in time’ that photos taken yourself can preserve. But your AI images are more natural than the ones I’ve created for my own post on similar lines to yours (coming shortly!) so I’m curious what app you used? I’m experimenting with CoPilot but I’m not impressed!
I just chose the one with photo and not the one with effects that’s why it is more natural, I think.
I was in Porto a few weeks ago. Your photo is far superior. IMO AI and photography are separate things.

I feel the same about the AI photos vs real photos. I can always tell which is not real. Pretty, but no what you’d call ‘soul’ to them.
I’d still like to try for fun though. I have no idea how to get to where you can do it.

Please don’t use AI images, for one because your images are better and have soul, and two for all the creatives who are being put out of work. Who wants to look at fake?

That’s exactly it, Teresa! If you want a fantasy book cover then AI can do the job, but if you want real life, photography wins every time.
Agreed. But I am also so fascinated at how imaginative people can get combining these two media. My son uses it in doing music videos and it baffles me every time.
I agree with you Teresa. It is fun to play with, much like a new toy on Christmas morning , but it doesn’t feel like the real deal to me either. Why would I want to create and image of “Porto” for example when it would be more fun to visit and try to capture my own impressions. Your photos are nicer, any time! Have a good week.
