When in Belém, don’t miss trying the original Pastel de Nata. Just remember, if you’re having more than one, it’s called Pasteis de Nata. ( which I am sure you will be having two or more of them)😂😂😂
You can find tasty pastel de nata all over Lisbon, but the ones from this famous bakery are steeped in Portuguese history. And as their official website says:
“In 1837 we began manufacturing Pastéis de Belém, according to an old recipe from the Jerónimos Monastery that is reborn daily in our factory using the same artisanal processes. Pastéis de Belém today provides the taste of ancient Portuguese sweets.”
Inside the Pasteis de Belem are these beautiful azulejos tiles with the view of Belém in 1669.
