Most of you know that I come from the Philippines, but a lot of you may not know that in the Philippines I lived in Makati, the financial hub … the Skyscrapers capital … the shopping destination … and I love it. I worked there for 10 years with my office on the top floor.
Went on a holiday a few months back and here we stayed at my sister’s place. I enjoyed having the shops just a walking distance from me.
When my family decided to move to Melbourne in 1991 I felt homesick for a good many years because it was oh so quiet here in Melbourne compared to where I used to live. For financial reasons, I was forced to get a house farther away from the city centre. I have now lived in the suburbs for about 24 years, which is a much simpler and quieter life and I absolutely love the environment where I am right now.
But as I’ve said, I am a city girl by heart, so on most weekends I still can’t help but go back to the city. That is where I enjoy the busy streets and laneways, the noise of the cafes, the city night lights…

Wonderful response Teresa. Love that you love where you live but still head into the city on weekends! Lucky you to have access to both 😀 Gorgeous images of both environments, especially loved the night shot
Thanks so much, glad that you liked my photos.
I hear you, Teresa – I am a city girl too!
Lovely you were able to visit with family!
Thanks Ju-Lyn High five on that.
I was so happy that I was given the chance after pandemic.
The best of both worlds.
So true 👍 Thanks ❤️
It’s great, people are different. I like your approach of seeing the city. I, personally, try to avoid going to a (big) city, despite it’s somewhat interesting. So, thanks for sharing your view and a bit of your personality 👍
