A Sitting Koala

Last Wednesday, I opted not to attend my morning swimming class and just go to a gallery instead. Well, why not?

Went to the local Bunjil Place to see the work of Sydney-based artist Rosie Deacon. She is well known for her exuberant sculptural installations,

This exhibit is created specifically for Bunjil Place Gallery. SPAGHETTI-STACK-SNUFFLE-SHUFFLE features materials and textures that are familiar to everyday life and is a mixture of art and craft and contemporary art.

At the entrance is this colourful, sitting Koala. (Xingfumama’s Pull Up a SeatChallenge)

Entry way…

More Koalas (Natalie’s Photographing Public Art Challenge – PPAC)

Materials from local op shops and art disposal centres.

There is this larger-than-life hanging Parrot Earrings? Just love it!

Stacks of colourful pillows… would be lovely to lie down on them.

More animals…hanging bird and koala

Inspired by 1980s YouTube aerobics championships and morning television show Aerobics Oz Style.

Before leaving I see the sitting Koala’s backside.

And of course a cup of hot chocolate before my dentist’s appointment.

I like colourful but I’d only go in there with my shades on. It’s a bit overwhelming.
