Migrating to Australia with my husband and one-year-old son left me homesick for a long time. Back then, snail mail was my lifeline to connect with my dad, workmates, and relatives due to the expense of long-distance calls.
In today’s digital age, communication is easier but lacks the personal touch. Choosing a preference between the two eras is a tough call, as each holds its unique significance.
I usually use Instagram to showcase my travel photos and share my sketching progress.
For communication with my kids, Messenger is my go-to, utilizing emojis and avatars for added expression.
I’ve cut back on Facebook, attempting to limit my usage.
Finally, good ol’ WordPress/Jetpack is where I express my thoughts and participate in photo challenges. My blog focuses more on visual storytelling through photos rather than writing because I am not really good in that. It sometimes even stresses me out thinking of what words to use. 😂😂
It is good to be able to keep in touch, even if it’s less personal.
Yeah I guess it is more accessible with the touch of your finger. It’s just that in my age I still remember those times when it is so nice to receive a Christmas card with handwritten message.
🙂
The good thing about online communication is that you can build connections with people all over the world. OK in the past there were penfriends (I had quite a few as a teenager) but it’s easier now.
That is so true, who would’ve thought that communicating will be this easy. I could still remember my mum standing by the door waiting for me to come home at night because we didn’t have any phones then. When today, a simple 👍 would tell me that my daughter’s safe haha
But you are magic with a camera and a sketch pad!
Thanks for those words of encouragement. But nowadays I am lazy to pick up my camera, my go to now is my phone which is very accessible and does the job.
It can be daunting Teresa, you do it so well on the blogs 🙂
Thanks… I try.
Your communication methods sound a lot like mine. Unfortunately social media doesn’t work well for me any more.
Oh why is that?
