Walking the Vibrant Town of Sassafras

Visiting a place I hadn’t been in a while was a true delight. While some familiar sights remained unchanged, many new additions had emerged. As we anticipated, the beautiful weather brought a bustling energy to the town last weekend.

Sassafras, located in the Dandenong Ranges of Victoria, Australia, is a charming village known for its stunning natural beauty and serene atmosphere. But not this day…

We wanted to have coffee and brunch at the famous Miss Marple’s Tea Room but there were a lot of people still waiting to be seated.

Passed by this colourful and crazy Alice in Wonderland Tea Party Mural outside the Tea Pot Shop.

Google told me that art was done by @master_murals in 2022.

So we ventured away from that spot to have a peaceful brunch in a new cafe called Violet’s of Sassafras.

This café featured an adjoining shop filled with charming little items.

I got excited to see some Christmas items being sold already.

After brunch, we checked out the quaint shops.

We passed by small art galleries and shops in one compound.

And here is Ben selling honey and flowers and bags of apples

There were plenty of doors, thanks to the multitude of tiny shops.

I love visiting this shop called Smits & Bits, where you can find just about anything you can imagine.

We passed a shop called Lennox of Sassafras, which offered bags and scarves, along with a charming garden in the back bursting with blooming spring flowers.

Chairs were scattered throughout the garden and shop, inviting visitors to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

And before we left for home, we couldn’t resist indulging in a delectable cheesecake, and I treated myself to a piece of scone as well.

Because of my love for double dipping—and this time, quadruple dipping—I’m linking this to Jo’s Monday Walk Challenge, to Dan’s Thursday Doors Challenge, to Natalie’s Photographing Public Art Challenge and to Xingfumama’s Pull Up a Seat Challenge.

It sounds like shopping heaven, Teresa. It’s always weird to me that Christmas follows Spring in Australia but it must be perfectly natural to you. Just like coffee and cake! Thanks a lot for sharing.

Haha what a comparison with coffee and cake. Definitely is a place to get away for the weekend. Thanks for the comment, Jo.

That looks like a wonderful place to spend a day. It’s hard to point out where it is, but I love the photo with the man either in the window or reflected in the window. It has a surreal look. I also love the featured gate. Good job on the challenges.

Haha that is my husband’s reflection from the store’s window. I didn’t even notice him standing there. Thanks Dan.

Excellent linking Teresa! Something for everyone. I feel sure I’ve spent some time there. Those shops are the best, they have so many useless dinky items, but it’s so nice to buy something cute.

    1. Teresa says:

Thanks Alison. And in you saying that…I think I have bought so many things there that I don’t really need. Haha

Teresa, you certainly brought Sassafras to life. Beautiful. Feel like hopping down South and crossing the border, although it’s a bit too far to go for a coffee. We live just North of Sydney at Umina Beach.
Hope you have a great week!
    Best wishes,
    Rowena
