“Jobs fill your pockets, adventures fill your soul.”
After a gruelling flight from Melbourne to Manila then an overnight stay there, followed by a 14 hour direct flight from Manila to Heathrow then about an hour train ride from Heathrow, Jack and I arrived in Hammersmith Station, London at about 9 pm. Oh gosh, we were so beat and very, very hungry so McDonalds it is for our first meal in the UK.
We booked for extra two nights before the tour to give way to jetlag. But unexpectedly we both felt good and no jetlag whatsoever.
Day 1 – (Please click image to enlarge)
So we started off with a nice QUICK breakfast in Leon Hammersmith in West London.
We took the tube to see the world famous leading, luxurious department store Harrods.
Another train ride to the Camden Lock for lunch. Of course I got excited when I saw all these colourful facade of the shops in the Camden market. Big, bold 3D designs that depict the items they were selling.
Surprised to see the colourful houses on Hartland Road, just at the back of the Camden Town market.
Of course we wouldn’t miss the Buckingham Palace. But the things is, we were late for the Changing of the Guards ceremony which was supposed to be from 11 to about 11:45. Nevermind…feeding our tummy in the market is more important haha
We saw this place so many times on Instagram so for sure we wouldn’t miss it. This is Neal’s Yard in Covent Gardens. Such vividly coloured shops, cafes, hair salons, stc.
This was our first day done and dusted.

You certainly got around for your first day in London. Camden is very colourful for photos and I always enjoy Neal’s Yard and the whole of the Covent Garden area. But it always surprises me that so many tourists make a beeline for Harrods 😆
Well, you’re right, after seeing it, there’s nothing much to see really. I just wanted to buy an international sim card on the opposite side of Harrods, they said it was cheap there. haha
Ha, now that is a good reason to visit! Although the idea of anything being cheap in Knightsbridge sounds odd to a Londoner 😆
Well the AirBnB host told us that so…Who knows! 🤣🤣🤣
You got me thinking now. Maybe I remembered wrong 😑 haha A long time ago…but this is why I want to document much of what I and my husband did.
So much on your first day..great photos
Yea, might run of time so made the most of it.
