Tuesday Streetart: Hosier Lane – 95

Came across this piece in Hosier Lane by @anamillas — a skull with a single red rose beneath the words “Not the flowers we want.” It made me pause. In a laneway full of vibrant murals, this one felt quieter — but heavier.

It’s a tribute to the many women still living under the weight of control — from governments, workplaces, relationships, or strangers on the street. A reflection of their quiet strength and the courage it takes just to move through the world.

Created for International Women’s Day 2024 — and for every day that the struggle continues.

At first I didn’t like it because I don’t like skulls. But knowing the meaning of the art piece made me think differently. Thanks Becky.
