TRAVEL DIARY: DAY 12
TE ANAU
On our 12th day, the rain poured nonstop. Luckily, we had this extra day to stay in—it would’ve been too difficult to drive. So, it turned into a Netflix kind of day.
TRAVEL DIARY: DAY 13
DRIVE FROM TE ANAU TO QUEENSTOWN
What a surprise—the sun came out just in time for our check-out! We finally had the chance to enjoy the charming little town of Te Anau which, contrary to my first impression, turned out to be far from boring. (Though, to be honest, two nights here still felt just right.)
First order of the day was breakfast

After breakfast, we wandered along the shores of Lake Te Anau, surrounded by scenery so captivating it felt like a painting come to life.

Strolling around town was a lot of fun, with quirky souvenir shops and bits of public art and doors tucked around every corner.

Then we found a spot by the lake, letting the silence wrap around us like a gentle breeze, as the water shimmered in stillness.

Then it was time to leave. As we made our way back to Queenstown, the road took us past rolling hills dotted with cows, a gentle reminder of the quiet beauty of the land.

Later, we checked in at the Holiday Inn near the airport for our final night in Queenstown—a quiet ending to a trip filled with unforgettable moments.

This was from my trip last April 2025.
I thought you were going to pull out your sketch pad, Teresa. Just the place! Many thanks for sharing xx
Haha no I didn’t but I should’ve. Thanks Jo!
A beautiful country
Definitely 👍
Lovely trip, Teresa. You brought back memories for me. Love New Zealand.
Thanks Coral. I did love it too and hope to ho back one day.
Plenty to see here. A shame about the weather
Can’t complain. Just one day of bad weather is not too bad.
Well, here in the UK, compaining abut the weather is a national hobby!
Haha true, here too. But you are having great weather there right now. My son is not happy. He doesn’t like the heat.
I like the heat alright, but I feel very sorry for the farmers. We really need rain.
If only we can just have the exact amount of rain. Some parts of Australia are having too much rain right now.
Crazy world just now.
Glad you had some time to relax. 😊
The whole of South Island has a laid back vibe, so quite relaxing.
