On the La Bastide Saint-Louis or the lower town of Carcassonne, we immediately noticed some artistic treasures.
Here are some sculptures scattered around the main boulevard, a testament of modern influence to the city. This Square is known as the Place Gambetta.
For Photographing Public Art Challenge Sculpture Saturday and 6WS
The Place Gambetta is a wonderful park and a good place to relax. The Square is surrounded by lovely buildings and a variety of statues and water features.
This is the Monument of the Resistance
This is the statue of Helena by Raymond Sudre, just outside the Musee des Beaux Arts.
And this is located at the far end of the boulevard…the Musee des Beaux Arts.
Love these sculptures Teresa 😊, hope it’s not too long before you are free
I hope so too Ali! It is scary when things become very uncertain. Just going to Ocean Grove in Victoria has been cancelled and rebooked twice already. Thanks for liking the sculptures…
These are wonderful!
Thanks Sofia. Good I found your comment, it was considered as spam.
What great variety – lovely to see so much art outdoors
Yes, so much to see there…quite an interesting place to be!
Beautiful statues and artwork.
Enjoy the weekend.
You too my friend, thanks for stopping by!
I love those playground sculptures – so playful!
👍🏼
This looks like a great place to walk around. I was in Carcassone in the 80s. Just for an afternoon to walk around the Medieval city. I should return.
Thanks for joining!
It was so clean and well maintained when we went in 2016. It’s a wonderful place to return to. Thanks for the comment.
I’m so happy you are playing along with everyone this week. Your photos are perfect for this challenge. 😀 😀
I always love joining in…hope you liked my posts too. Happy that you were able to follow my site, Cee. Have a great week.
I really like your last photo and some of these statues are really touching. <3 A lovely place in many senses.
Thanks a lot Manja. This place is really memorable to me and my husband…it’s like a fairytale.
The artist had a wonderful way of capturing expressions. The swinging boy, the kids playing and jumping, the loving mother. They are all so charming. You found a real treasure this week, Teresa. Thanks for joining in.
I always have enjoyed searching for Public art wherever I go so it is always a pleasure to join in every week!
We are glad to have you as a regular, Teresa. Just think 9 weeks and we already have “regulars!”
Yes, I may post from either of my 2 sites. So see you around.
You’re always welcome. We don’t discriminate between sites, LOL! 🙂
