Macau in Monochrome

There’s no set theme for this week’s Monochrome Madness Challenge, so I’ve decided to feature monochrome shots from my travels.

This was in 2012 when we visited Macau. Macau in black and white feels calm and full of history. The ruins of St. Paul’s and old churches look even more special with their worn stone and quiet charm.

The narrow streets with its lampposts, public art, market and old buildings show off their age and detail.

Temples feel peaceful, with soft smoke and simple lines. In monochrome, the mix of Portuguese and Chinese style stands out, giving a timeless feel to the city.

As we made our way from the centre of Macau toward the casino district, we saw the city unfold.

The pictures have greater depth and richness in monochrome. Haven’t ever been to Macau. These pics were a window to it. Thank you, Teresa, for sharing these.

My pleasure to share it, Smitha. The place is interesting to see. I particularly love the old area but not the area of the casinos.

I’ve never thought of visiting Macau but it does look interesting, and the old buildings in particular look great in black and white!

That is what I like as well, the old buildings! Thanks for the comment Sarah.

  3. Wonderful approach with your trip. I love how the black and white captures the essence of your travels.

Thanks Donna, sometimes it is good to see travels from a different perspective.
