Day 3 in Prague

“In Rome, the statues. In Paris, the paintings. And in Prague the buildings suggest that pleasure can be an education.” – Caleb Crain

It was hard on my feet yesterday but I am guessing that this day will be a better one. Our activity for today is a Sightseeing guided walk plus a few hours of a relaxing River Cruise.

First place that we visited was the Prague Castle. This has been an important symbol of the Czech state for more than a thousand years.

Daily at 12 noon is the ceremonial changing of the guards. I haven seen the Changing of the Guards in London so maybe this is just the same thing (or not?)

Inside the Prague Castle we saw the St Vitus Cathedral.

There are ancient mosaic murals in the outer walls of St Vitus which were a delight to see!

Also in the Prague Castle is the beautifully coloured St George Basilica

What a majestic view as we left the castle.

Next we went on a Scenic Vltava Cruise

And as they were serving lunch, Jack and I decided to go up the deck. It was a good plan because we had the view all to ourselves.

So many things to see on water level while having a relaxing time.

After the cruise, hubby and I went walking in the cobbled walkway passing by these beautiful sights by the Vltava river.

We wanted to take some shots of the famous Charles Bridge before turning ourselves in for the night…but guess what, there were so many people that we weren’t able to take even one decent photo.

It was such a busy time so we gave up and just grabbed something to eat and then took the tram and headed back to our hotel.

There’s only so much you can do in one day, Teresa. My husband tells me that all the time! Lovely overview and I’m always happy on a river cruise. The tiles on the Cathedral are really unusual. I like them! Many thanks to you for sharing. Have a good week!

Prague is beautiful, my mother also visited the city and was very enthoustiastic. I heard that a lot of people now cancel their trip because of the situation in Ukraine.

I guess it is scary to go to that direction right now! Hopefully the war will be over soon. Thanks for the comment.

It really was especially during that time of the year.
