This week, I’m joining Dan’s CFFC with the theme “views from or in public transport.”
We actually took this ride in Hanoi for no reason other than to have a bit of fun. We were early for our restaurant reservation, so instead of waiting around, we hopped into a tuk-tuk just for the experience.
To be honest, it was far more expensive than booking a GRAB (a popular public transport in Southeast Asia). But sometimes, it’s not about choosing the cheapest option … it’s about saying yes to the moment. And I’m glad we did.
The open sides, the breeze, and the busy streets made it all so exciting. I loved watching the other lane rush past, with cars and motorbikes speeding by so close that, at times, it felt a little scary.

NOTE: Tuk tuks in Vietnam, often referred to as xe lam or pedicabs (cyclo), are primarily used for tourist city tours.

Wonderful photos, Teresa. I like that you find the best street art wherever you travel. It looks like a fun and lively city.
Oh you noticed haha. My eyes are immediately drawn to these street arts without me noticing it. Thanks Dan, the place is so lively.
I really enjoyed Hanoi. Weather looks very humid and steamy. You took some great photos. It’s great fun in a tuk tuk but as you say they’re not cheap anymore
Everything else is cheap though. Especially the food so I really enjoyed it.
Some lovely moments captured. I especially like that last shot.
Thanks Margaret.
I took a tuk tuk in Thailand and thought I was going to die! It was fun but scary in the heavy traffic. It was very cheap but it’s how many of the locals get around.
Yup same feeling. It was very scary but fun. This one is not as cheap because it is the tourist tuktuk.
Some great photos from your ride and I like the street art but I think I would be a bit apprehensive with such busy streets and so much traffic.
Thanks Eunice. I am happy to find streetart in Hanoi. And yes crossing the street is scary buy after a few days we were able to do it confidently.
