Around Paris

With an early morning wake up call, we got ready for a city tour aboard the Cosmos tourist bus

Still some awesome view from inside the coach window around the main city.

Next, we went down for a guided city walk

On the left hand side is the Palais de Justice, a beautiful building, which is a courthouse in Paris, located on the Île de la Cité.

Opposite is the Notre Dame de Paris, which we were lucky enough to see before the fire. Notre-Dame de Paris or simply Notre Dame, is a cathedral church in Paris and is the most famous of the Gothic cathedrals of the Middle Ages.

Mostly overlooked because of the crowd, is a small circular marker with an eight-pointed bronze star embedded in the cobblestones. It’s engraved with the words Point zéro des routes de France, and is the point from which distances are measured from Paris to other cities in France. It was placed there in 1924

To see the interior, we entered one of the beautiful ornate doors of Notre Dame. Please click any of the images to see the details.

Notre Dame is well known for its magnificent stained glass windows and many of them date back from the 13th century when the cathedral was constructed.

Having a city tour made us see many shop windows, from designer clothing, hotels, restaurants and flower shops.

As well as some well known iconic architectures like from Left to Right: the EiffelTower, the Pont Alexandre III, the Arc de Triomphe, and the modern building with colourful exposed beams, The Center Pompidou while walking on foot.

You certainly got to see most o f the major sights on this tour. I’m pleased you were able to visit Notre Dame before that dreadful fire!

    1. Teresa says:

Yes, just the major sites. Wish I can go back one day to see the “off the beaten tracks” sites one day.

I hope you manage to do that. It would be an easy side trip to add on once you are able to visit your family here in the UK again

One step at a time Sarah. This pandemic made me go slower.
