“Don’t listen to what they say. Go see.”

Since we were already in Cebu, Jack and I decided to take an overnight trip to Bohol. From Cebu, we took the SuperCat ferry to Tagbilaran City, the capital city of Bohol.

One of the most fun and most popular destinations in Bohol is the Loboc River Buffet Cruise. Aside from the beautiful buffet lunch on a floating restaurant, there is entertainment with native songs and dances when the cruise stops midway the duration of the trip . Then it culminates with a sumptuous lunch and performance from the crew, which was so fun as the guests were also invited to dance and sing along.

The next place we visited is the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary. The Tarsier is the world’s smallest primate and it is really tiny, measuring only 4 to 5 inches and is no longer than a man’s hand. It has large, mesmerising eyes and it is said to be as large as their brain. We were advised that this creature is very sensitive so taking photos from afar and not taking flash photos are recommended.

After the cute Tarsier, we went to the Simply Butterflies Conservation Center. This is the first butterfly breeding and conservation program in Bohol.

This place is called the Chocolate Hills…but you may be wondering why it is called that when in fact it is colour green and not made of chocolates. Well these hills turns chocolatey brown during the dry season. So if you want to see it during that time, best to go during late November through to May. But who knows with climate change.

This is the Sandugo statue in Tagbilaran City. It is to commemorate the blood compact between the Spanish Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and chief Sikatuna. “Sandugo” is a Visayan word meaning “one blood”, where it is considered as a friendship treaty between the Spaniards and the Filipinos.

The next morning started with a scrumptious Filipino breakfast then had a relaxing room massage at the hotel.

Here is where we stayed…in the Alona Beach. Bohol’s White Sand beauty is located in Panglao Island, which is a stretch of paradise and serenity and of course Filipino food! We had a fun day, swimming, lazing around then late lunch before heading back to Cebu to meet up with my sisters again.
