(Road Trip part 2)
TRAVEL DIARY: SANTIAGO 2
On our second day in Ilocos Sur, only three of us went for our walk bright and early to catch the sunrise, while the others were still fast asleep. The ambiance of the place may be very different from my previous post but it is owned by the same people and part of the same group.
As you can see in this photo below, the Vitalis Villas, where we stayed in is on the opposite shore.
This is the Vitalis White Sand, and this has the seaside charm…
Inspired by Xingfumama’s (Pull Up a Seat Challenge) and Natalie’s (Photographing Public Art Challenge)
Walked on the local fishing village as we are reminded of the simple way of life.
Bangka boats used by the fishermen.
We saw this lady with her grandaughter. She said that she owns two huts just like this and she rents it out to people with rates for half a day or for a full day.
Talked to a fisherman on the way and he spoke of his going out to sea each day, bringing in the freshest catch. He asked us to come back the following day and he will teach us to ride the raft. But sad to say, we didn’t have time for that.
Went up the creaky steps of one of the houses and saw these. As you may know me…I can ‘t resist this photo opportunity. Haha
Some of the rooms that are just separated by thin wooden walls. People use it as storage for the restaurants below. We even saw a lady inside and she said that she was marinating and putting pork on skewers for this evening’s happening.
And coming down the steps again is this public art where my sister and I just had to pose!
And then we had to head back to the Villas to be on time for our breakfast. It was such a different experience for us. Bad luck for the sleepy heads who didn’t come with us.
Fun and colourful public art. The sunrise, early daylight and beach look amazing. Thank you for your PPAC contribution.
Thanks Natalie. I was also surprised to see these streetart and sculptures in this place.
What lovely atmospheric photos, Teresa. ‘Elvis’ made me laugh out loud.
Oh Elvis haha. I love the place and could definitely stay there for longer if I had the time.
That walk was really worth getting up early for!
Oh yes this really made my day and didn’t regret getting up early.
Wonderful place. I love the scenic beauty combined with the fun and quirky art.
