TRAVEL DIARY: BUDAPEST 1

It was a wonderful morning in November of 2018 and this was the view from the hotel where we stayed.

Budapest, Hungary’s capital, is divided into two parts by the River Danube. The 19th-century Chain Bridge connects the hilly Buda district with flat Pest.

We started off the day by walking on the Buda side.

Holy Trinity Square is the centre of the Buda Castle District and one of the most beautiful squares in the city. It has the Fisherman’s Bastion and the Matthias Church in one wide open area.

This is the beautiful Neo-Gothic Fishermen’s Bastion.

It is a castle like fortress that reminded me of Disneyland.

The Fishermen’s Bastion is a lookout located on the Castle Hill in Budapest, to the west of the Danube River, offering spectacular views of the city.

As we walked all over the Bastion, the more we were in awe of its architecture and sculpture!

Arches are a favourite of mine and the Fisherman’s Bastion has loads of these arches.

Awww almost all of the couples from our tour group had a “couple photo” here!

And because of its beauty we had our group photo on this location as well.

Next to visit was the Matthias Church

It wasn’t a long walk from the Bastion to here. It really was just opposite.

This is the Holy Trinity Column in the middle of Trinity Square.

And after that, hubby and I walked around and saw these beautiful building architectures and churches.

Near the Fisherman’s Bastion, we can’t help but notice the Calvinist Church’s beautiful roof decorated with colorful Zsolnay tiles

The Church of St. Anne (Szent Anna Templom) is a remarkable baroque church on the Buda side very close to the River Danube.

We also saw the Market Hall but unfortunately it was closed on that day.
