“Depth of field teaches us a simple lesson: clarity comes when we know where to focus.” — Anonymous
For this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge, Patti encourages us to Focus on the Subject. She also shared some practical suggestions on how to achieve this effectively.
Here, I used depth of field in my photos. By keeping the subject in focus and softly blurring the background, the eye is drawn to what I want people to notice. It helps remove distractions and makes the subject stand out, whether it’s a bird, a flower, a bee, an Alpaca or some special moments in the park.

A lovely collection. The two little boys in Geelong look like they might be putting the world to rights!
Yes Helen, some serious business there.
These are so lovely Teresa. The Alpaca made me smile
I love that one too. Thanks Brian.
Teresa, a great quote accompanied by perfect examples to make the point. 👏
Love your comment. Thanks Pepper.
Excellent examples of the use of depth of field Teresa 🙂 My favourites are the duck, the bee and that last shot, but they all work well.
Teresa, these are wonderful examples of depth of field. My favorite is the one from Cloudehill Garden and Nursery.
These are all marvelous Teresa – one of my favorites of your many wonderful posts! The statue of the girl is really beautiful, I love that especially
Great examples of expert use of depth of field.
