Hong Kong in Monochrome

There’s no set theme for this week’s Monochrome Madness Challenge, so I’ve decided to feature monochrome shots from my travels.

This week I turn my lens toward Hong Kong—a city that’s always moving, always changing, and striking even without colour. This was 2012 when I went to HK with Jack, my sister and my niece and nephew.

Even without colour, the city feels alive. The streets are a blur of people and traffic.

Evening comes alive with night markets and flickering neon lights.

Skyscrapers fade into the mist, towering above the harbour.

It was nice experiencing a ride in an old boat—slow, steady, and a world away from the city’s usual rush.

Passing by ships and oil ships in the harbour.

These repond well to monochrome treatment, giving them a bit of a journalistic feel.

Thanks so much, Margaret. I didn’t think of it that way, but that is great.

City street photos often respond well to B&W edits as these demonstrate. I especially like your featured shot of the market stall 🙂
