Ale-Hop is a Spanish retail chain offering a diverse range of quirky and creative gifts, gadgets, and home décor. It is owned by Vicente Grimalt and on one of his travels he saw a show featuring numerous animals but was particularly struck by a cow. Inspired, he bought a cow and placed it at the entrance of a shop. The idea was so successful that he decided to put a cow at the entrance of each of his stores. I guess it is effective because who doesn’t love a cow?
Here are some cows that I saw in Barcelona, Lisbon and Porto.
I am linking this to Debbie’s Six Word Saturday and to Becky’s Seven in September.
We have those stores in the Algarve too. I didn’t realise it was a Spanish idea. They sell some very whacky items (innovative, if I’m being polite). Love the cows with brollies, Teresa. The rain in Spain…right? Hope you’re having a great weekend.
Have a great weekend too, Jo. Yes, I was intrigued by seeing so many of these cows but didn’t see what they were selling.
I once bought some very colourful and comfortable slippers there (with the non-slip grips on the bottom) but they have a lot of electronic gadgets and child pleasing stuff.
I see. Maybe next time if I am there I can see what they’re selling.
These cows are very famous and photogenic. Well done, Teresa.
True, so photogenic
Ha-ha; love these 🤩
Glad you liked it Jez
Maybe they were selling umbrellas 😁
Maybe they were, on top of other things they’re swlling.
oh these are such fun – love them
Thanks Becky.
Those cows certainly make their presence felt, in Spain at least. I don’t know Portugal, unfortunately.
Yes, they make a great statement.
We saw one of these shops in Seville but I didn’t know the story behind the cow. Thank you for enlightening me!
It is interesting isn’t it.
The cow with an umbrella does tend to catch the eye.
True, especially the coloured umbrellas.
Oh my goodness how cute! Does it rain a lot? Funny to see the umbrellas!
While we were in Porto in November it really did pour. But it is really fun to see in front of stores
Seriously! Dairy farmer’s daughter — love love love these! Bernie
