EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND
The Palace of Holyroodhouse, commonly referred to as Holyrood Palace or Holyroodhouse, is the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland.
Royal Mile Abbey Strand Edinburgh is the small area around the Palace of Holyroodhouse which was built in 1480 leading up to the Palace gates.
Parts of the old abbey sanctuary buildings on Abbey Strand was renovated to create an education center and visitor accommodation.
This is the fountain that can be seen as you enter the gates of the Palace of Holyroodhouse. It was built by Robert Matheson in 1859 to a design based on the fountain at Linlithgow Palace that was built for James V in 1538.
The King’s Gallery (formerly known as the Queen’s Gallery) is an art gallery that is located beside the Palace, and was built in the shell of a former church and school dating from the 1840s.
These photos were taken in November 2023 and during that time it was still called the Queen’s Gallery. I am not quite sure if they have already changed the name as at this time.

A wonderful selection of doors. In have never been to Holyrood House, so this was a great preview. The fountain is spectacular.
Glad to share it with you. Here’s a more detailed look at the Palace when we went there in 2016. If you’re interested, here’s the link https://wanderingteresa.com/walking-the-royal-mile/
