This week, Donna from Wind Kisses hosts the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge with the topic of CONNECTIONS.
Bridges connect more than just two pieces of land- they link communities, cultures, and histories, fostering unity and progress. However, this week, I’m focusing on their literal role as a form of connection from point A to point B.
The Pont Alexandre III is a stunning bridge in Paris that crosses the Seine River, connecting different parts of the city like the Champs-Élysées area with the Invalides and Eiffel Tower neighbourhoods. It’s known for being incredibly fancy and beautiful, making it one of the most impressive bridges in Paris.
The Eiffel Bridge in Girona is a beautiful structure designed by Gustave Eiffel, the same engineer behind the Eiffel Tower in Paris. This bridge spans the Onyar River, connecting different parts of the city.
The Queensferry Crossing in Scotland serves as a crucial link which connects South Queensferry to North Queensferry.
The Luis I Bridge in Porto serves as a picturesque connection, spanning the Douro River and linking the bustling downtown area with the quaint Vila Nova de Gaia district.
The Charles Bridge in Prague connects the city’s historic Old Town with the charming Lesser Town across the Vltava River. With its arches and statues, it’s not just a bridge; it’s a symbol of connection, linking people and stories throughout the centuries.
The Cally Bridge in London stands as an important link, connecting the vibrant neighborhoods of King’s Cross and Caledonian Road.
Port Augustus Loch in Scotland, nestled within the picturesque Highlands, connects the Caledonian Canal to the mystical Loch Ness. This is the loch closing its gates.
Such a lovely collection of bridges, Teresa. You are so right, bridges connect so much more than two pieces of land. I do like the Eiffel Bridge. It would be fun to walk through as you did. But my favorite photo and probably my favorite bridge in the world might be the Charles Bridge in Prague, for exactly as you say, its symbolism. A wonderful post. Thank you.
