Sculptures in Placa de Catalunya

In the heart of Barcelona lies Plaça de Catalunya, a sprawling square graced by an array of public art, making it one of the city’s grandest open spaces.

Renowned for its statues and vibrant atmosphere…

Its fountains …

At the edge of the square is my favourite Font dels Sis Putti, an attractive fountain built in 1926 by the artist Jaume Otero.

Adorning the fountain are six charming sculptures, depicting youthful figures or putti. These exquisite creations symbolize the birth of the Greek goddess Aphrodite, adding a touch of classical beauty to the surroundings.

and the flocks of pigeons that gather in the centre…

It was a delightful day when we went, with the kids joyfully playing and chasing pigeons.
