Tis is the entrance gate of the British Library in London. The gates to the library grounds were designed by Lida and David Kindersley
This is the 87-yard-long ornate steel gate of the Palace of Versailles which is decorated with 100,000 gold leaves. The Palace has been listed as a World Heritage Site for 30 years and is one of the greatest achievements in French 17th century art.

These are beautiful gates, Teresa. I love the British Library gate. Except for the bottom photo, I prefer the black and white version. That one looks better to me in color.

That gate to the British Library is one of my favourites, so great to see it included in your selection. Good use of the image compare feature too, pairing colour and B&W versions. I think I like the colour best for the Versailles and Edinburgh shots, B&W for the others 🙂

Yes, I know the British Library very well – in fact I’ve spoken at conferences there and did some consultancy work for them a few years ago. It’s a shame more tourists don’t visit as the exhibitions are excellent 🙂
Wow, must be great doing that. I am impressed with people speaking in front of large groups of people because I am a bit an introvert.
I used to find it difficult but I had to do it a lot for work so I got used to it and even came to enjoy it 🙂
