This Pinocchio mural in Thornbury is a work of Preston artist, Hayden Dewar. He has painted six murals in Darebin, including this giant Pinocchio-themed work on the wall of Thornbury pizza restaurant Son of a Pizzaiolo.
Darebin Council in Victoria commissioned street artists to create wall-size murals at 10 tagging hot spots for a program to stamp out illegal graffiti. This move is backed up by local businesses.
(Since I cannot at this moment move around more than 5km from home, Pat sent me these photos from one of her walks.).
These are gorgeous and Pinocchio is so cute, you have such gorgeous murals tucked up your sleeve Teresa 😄
Wanna say thanks but this photos came from Pat! Can’t go anywhere as you know and in my area there are no murals, unfortunately. Have a great week, Ali! ❤️
Never mind, hope you’re managing to keep your spirits up 😍
Oh well … bad weather and lockdown not a good combination. Anyway, I have Zoom Zumba later so that will be the highlight of my day haha
That’s brilliant, I am off to Zumba now
Jealous 😞
Beautiful an Colourful. Pinicchios head really looks like wood
Yes, really does look like wood!
Really beautiful murals Teresa!
Thanks Lisa, much appreciate your comment!
Fabulous artwork and a great initiative of Council. They are to be congratulated and hopefully it will provide a bit of inspiration to the taggers!
Beautiful. I was in Lucca, Tuscany, where Pinoccio was “born”. And do you know Adriano Celentano´s song on the story, love it!

Wow, I heard it and although I don’t understand it..it sounds beautiful! Thanks for that.
It’s great that your friend found you some wonderful murals despite your being locked down! We are free and easy here — but probably should be locked down too.
best… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Pat’s my daughter and yes, she is good like that. Even my son sends me some too. I posted a mural last week from him in London. Thanks Mae ❤️
Awesome street art
Thanks so much! ❤️
Wow, a great find by your daughter. Pinocchio looks like he’s made from wood, it’s beautifully painted, colourful and huge too!
Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Teresa.
Hope you are doing well in lockdown and that things improve soon.
Thanks Sami. It will still be a long wait for us before situations get better. Cases are going up daily. Thanks for the concern. Have a good week My friend!
That’s amazing!
Adorable!
Thanks…I think so too! 👍🏼
Delightful art! Thank you!
My pleasure to share! 👍🏼
This s stunning. I love how Pinocchio’s nose had a leaf growing out of it. And those eyes are brilliant, too.
Oh these murals are so fun 😀
What fun artsy murals — and who doesn’t love the Pinocchio story! Thanks for showing us this place. We may not be able to travel again, or so it seems right now!
Nooooo That is a scary thought not being able to travel….don’t say that, I still have so many places in my bucket list.
Me, too!
