As part of our road trip, here are some olden style windows all found in Ilocos, the northern part province of the Philippines.
Metal Grillwork on stone structure
These are the traditional Capiz on wooden sliding windows.
What is a capiz window?
Capiz (Kapis) shell windows and doors were originally used in the Philippines. … The capiz comes from the windowpane oyster found in the coastal waters of the Philippines and are known for their beautiful mother of pearl look.
Sliding capiz window overlooking the procession of beautifully decorated horse and carriages.
Capiz windows and shutters
Wooden shutters of the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse
Wooden windows of a storage in a beach complex
A somewhat modern architecture but still has the capiz sliding windows.
Did not know about these windows, thanks for sharing.
Yes, they’re very common in the old houses. Thanks for stopping by.
These are wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure Ludwig 👍🏼
Those capiz windows/shutters look beautiful and I love the patterns made by that grille – just the sort of thing I love to photograph myself!
Thanks Sarah… it is a great subject indeed.
Love the carriage photos, Teresa. A wedding or something else?
It is a procession where beautiful ladies ride the carriages and they parade all over the town. But unfortunately they weren’t there yet and I couldn’t wait for them.
Shame!
Oh I really like our windows for this week. Thanks Teresa for playing along 😀
Yay, thanks!
