TRAVEL DIARY: PORTO 3
BACK STORY: This is a continuation of my previous blog and this day, as I’ve said, it was pouring rain.
While exploring, we stopped for lunch at a unique McDonald’s in downtown Porto, Portugal.
Surprisingly, this restaurant, known as the McDonald’s Imperial, is housed in a historic café adorned with stunning art deco stained glass windows and chandeliers. Have you seen other Fast Food chains as beautiful as this?
Some art along the way.
Located on top of the hill is this ornate church named, Igreja de Santo Ildefonso. This is an eighteenth-century church located near Batalha Square.
The interior of the church.
Santo Ildefonso Church also has a museum inside.
Saw this moody street on the way to the Rua de Santa Caterina.
There were a few gorgeous architecture in Rua Santa Catarina which is a pedestrian street in the centre of Porto.
Had dinner at Honest Greens for a healthier option.
This is near the corner of our Airbnb, it is the Cinema Batalha. It is one example of the modern architecture in Portugal.
I thought that after dinner we were going straight to our accommodation but Jack had other plans. He wanted to see the city at night, so we continued walking to the Dom Luis Bridge again. Happy that we did.

That was quite a long day but my knee and feet didn’t give in and I lasted from morning til night. “Good job Teresa”!
I’m not a McDonalds fan, but that one looks special, Teresa. We stayed opposite that Ildefonso church and it looked so pretty at night. The weather isn’t dependable but it’s a lovely city.
We stayed just around the corner from that church and it is a great area.
So many beautiful buildings, despite the rain! That McDonalds does indeed look unique and I might have to pop in for some photos but I couldn’t bring myself to eat there when Portugal has so much delicious food!
Haha true. Just went in because we were so drenched. But I should say, it is worth to see it in one point in time.
Simply wonderful.
Yes, such an amazing place.
