Tuesday Streetart – 34

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

I forgot where this streetart is actually located and I also don’t know who the artist is. I just know that it is from the streets of Melbourne.

This street art got me thinking… it seems to reflect on how people are trapped by things like money, addiction, and social media. The image of religion in the middle suggests it could offer a way out, but the rosary inside the jail adds a twist.

What do you think it means?

It can be interpreted in many different ways. Thanks Margaret.

A very thought-provoking piece. My reading of the rosary element is that this particular artist perhaps sees conforming to a religion as another form of jail?

    1. Teresa says:

It can be. Depends on how one perceives things.

Very interesting! About the rosary, I guess you know this quote from Karl Marx – “religion is the opium of the masses/people”. I think the overall theme is about the entrapment of the mind.

The mind can play tricks on you and also can take you to different dimensions. Thanks for the comment.
