“On earth there is no heaven, but there are pieces of it.” – Jules Renard
Isn’t it amazing when you can escape the crowds and experience a destination without the usual influx of tourists? That’s exactly how it felt when we visited Bruny Island—like we had the entire place to ourselves.
I’ve just returned from a short getaway to Hobart, Tasmania, so this challenge feels particularly relevant to me right now. I’m sharing this post for the Lens-Artist Photo Challenge, hosted by Egidio, with the theme of “Silence.”
The silence on Bruny Island was something you could feel.
It was the kind of quiet that let you hear your own thoughts, the rustle of the wind in the trees, and the gentle lap of the waves on the shore.
It felt like time slowed down, and for a moment, the world outside just disappeared.
The streets felt eerily quiet, with only the occasional sound of cars passing, their tires humming on the empty roads.
Cows dotted the landscape, grazing peacefully against the backdrop of soft, sweeping hills.
It looks a beautiful place, Teresa, and definitely a quiet one. That lead photo is a beauty!
Thanks Jo…I really felt it and heard the silence.
You’ve certainly shown the peace of this lovely place. A great way to start my day!
Glad you liked it Margaret. It was really such a great feeling being there standing in silence.
A beautiful peaceful place Teresa
Yes, definitely a bucket list place.
Simply BEAUTIFUL. 👏
Thanks for thinking so, John.
Teresa, what a dream to have all that beauty in front of you. Your photos are gorgeous and captured silence very well.
Thanks so much Egidio, perfect timing for the challenge.
That looks and sounds like such a tranquil place!
For sure. Bruny Island seems like a world apart.
all lovely but that first one takes your breath away
Thanks for liking it, Becky… especially the featured photo.
Great shots. The empty road really is palpable.
Thanks Rebecca and for thinking that.
I haven’t managed Bruny yet in all my trips to Tassie but it’s on my list for next time.
It’s my first time going to Hobart. But yes, Bruny is a must. Thanks for commenting, Coral.
